GroVia Review 1

31 August 2010

1. What style of Nappy is the GroVia?

I believe it is a OSFM  2IO nappy. The GroVia nappy is made so that you can buy a few insert sets and just snap the wet one out and put a new one in straight away getting more wears out of your nappy.

2. What was your first impression on receiving the nappy before washing or using?

I loved it from the start. It is so simple to use for a beginner in MCNs.

3. Were the Instructions for washing and prepping the nappy straight forward?

Very basic washing and prepping for this nappy.

4. Did the nappy require washing before first use, and did you?

The nappy did require washing before use and yes I washed it before use.

5. Does the nappy come apart for easy washing and drying?

It couldn’t be simpler.

6. How long did it take the Nappy to dry?

The shell dries so fast that you can barely time it but the inserts take a few hours.

7. Did you use the nappy the first time through the day or night?

Daytime use for this nappy so far. But I am told it is a great night nappy also.

8. When you used the nappy the first time, how absorbent was the nappy. Please give a rating out of 5, with 1 being not so absorbent and 5 being very absorbent.

After it’s first wash it was a great nappy with absorbency of 3 now it is a 4.5

9. Did bubs have any appearance of redness from the use of the nappy, eg. around the legs or waist?

Nothing at all with this nappy. It’s a great comfortable fit on both toddler and infant.

10. How do you feel about the GroVia nappy after using it the first time?

I love it. This nappy is certainly one I want more of in my nappy stash. Easy to use and very trim.

    Love love love the stripes!
Are the inserts bamboo? And do they cover the entire shell? Do you find you can use the shells again without washing? I always found with ones like ittis I wouldn’t like to use again without washing as there would often be a little bit of wee on the shell.

I LOVE MY GROVIA. simple, effective and very absorbant. I wish the inserts would dry quicker though. I use it as a day nappy.
Would love to know how you go as a night nappy Lisa.

My younger niece who is tiny can fit into the nappy too. The velcro and different adjustments are just amazing.

You’re right, the shell dries super fast Lisa!!

Don’t you just love the colours and designs Lisa? Cute as!

I ‘ve never had probs with removing the poo , discolouring or washing it.

Lisa, don’t you just love the inner mesh on the shell?

Sounds like you really like this one Lisa. Makes me want to try it.

I am a grovia addict as well – i found that i can’t get in the habit of just switching the inserts as my little man is off and gone by the time i get the new insert in and i have a few outers anyway. I have got double the amount of inners to outers and the shell drys within an hour for me so i just grab it off the line and have enough inners to put them straight back in use if that makes sense. You don’t have to wait for the whole nappy to dry to start using again.

I am using them on my nearly 2 1/2 year old as a night nappy – never had a leak yet! Although she is toilet trained for the days and the cloth at night and every now and then it’s dry.

I have quiet a few brands but this is my fave for sure! And they also do a ‘magic stick’ best nappy rash remedy ever!!!!

oh I love the colours!! have seen these nappies and wanting to know what they are like. They sound good :) what sort of insert does it have?

    Awww so gorgeous… :)
Will have to chat some more with you over this one.
I won a GroVia not long ago and love it. Mine doesn’t have mesh though…

  • Cassie said:

the inserts are an organic cotton

Wow after that review and these comments I am soooo wanting to try a Grovia now! The stripes are gorgeous!

I love this nappy. Yeah the inserts just snap in at the top and bottom with 2 snaps. They don’t fit the entire shell just where it is needed and they have that poo barrier around the legs of the insert if you get what I mean. I can take a photo if you’s like. I Agree that it could be faster drying for the inside but that’s ok that’s why we get a couple of inserts so that we can simply take one out and snap another in.

Bec it doesn’t get wet often on the shell because it has what I guess is PUL on the bottom of the insert. and the way the insert is shaped keeps the mess contained really well. so it’s super easy to just snap another insert in to change the nappy.

Yeah Rubina that mesh is great. It makes it comfortable and breathes more I think.

Meg I think it’s organic cotton like Cassie wrote. But it’s a very absorbent material. I am yet to have a leak in it .. But I haven’t used it at night yet. I might give it a go but we’ll see.

I have that Magic stick ! Sam gave me one cos Elias gets rash so easily and it worked well…. Like magic ! :D

Lauren. Give them a go. You’ll love them

  • rubina said:

Totally off the topic, is the magic stick for nappy rash or for the nappy?

  • Lisa Abejja said:

For nappy rash. It’s great stuff you should try it on Ayn’s rash.. Smells lovely too ;)

  • Meg said:

oh a magic stick? wow never heard of it! so it’s ok to use with mcns? or do you have to make sure you use a liner?

mesh inside? that’s different but would make it very breathable i guess?

the inserts sound great how they contain the mess. makes it a lot cheaper being able to just put new inserts in and reuse the shell. will have to look into these nappies ;)

any idea where to get these nappies? I have heard of them before but never been able to find them, they never seem to be selling at the online nappy shops, surprising as you say they are wonderful, so more places really should stock them. I do have a nappy that has an inner mesh like liner and I find that it never smellsas bad as the other nappies can get, did you find this one smelt better too? Would love to try these nappies! Your doing a great job with all your reviews too!

  • Meg said:

Hey Talitha just found a place where they sell them – just did a search on google :) Hope it’s ok to post this link.

Just saw it has a 1 yr warranty too! that is awesome!!

Lisa you so got the best coloured one it’s beautiful! I agree you are doing a great job with the reviews. You make cloth nappying sound so easy – which it really is!

  • Lisa Abejja said:

The lovely ladies at http://www.booloobabe.com.au/ gave me this nappy :)

Meg I think you would use a nappy with anything like this, it repels water so I guess it would sink into the nappy and make some of the fibers water repellent and that’s not a good thing lol

I’m glad you guys are enjoying it. It’s definitely fun for me to review ;) lol of course

  • Meg said:

haha so confused when you said nappy instead of liner – took me a minute to work it out! haha

  • Megan said:

Ohhh I like the idea of just changing the boosters!! Im guessing its a velcro closure?? Love the colour

  • rubina said:

Yes it is velcro, that’s what i love, i read in your earlier blog about Xander knwoing how to remove the velcro straps. Naughty little fellow. Ayn hasn’t guessed it yet thank god. The Magic Stick, i must try!

  • theresa said:

yes i do love the idea of only changing the booster!

  • Sam Searle said:

Yes the soakers are made from organic cotton and it is an All In 2 trim fitting nappy. Teamed with the stay dry booster for overnight, I am yet to have a leak on my near two year old who sleeps for twelve hours. GroVia is available in both velcro (which is outstandingly different to other velcro nappies on the market) and snap closures.

The Magic stick also by GroVia is an amazing product, it is so effective and is safe for use with cloth nappies as the ingredients are natural. I wish I had have known about it six years ago, it would have saved me so much searching and purchasing many different lotions and potions. You roll it up like a glue stick and rub it onto any redness or rash, no finger contact required.

So yes big lovers of the GroVia range here, which is why we put it forward as a nappy for Lisa and her babes to trial. I think it will be a big name of the future, it is so competitively priced and we have many happy customers using them. Loving reading all of your posts, even if I am really delayed! For anyone in WA I have a stall at the Baby and Kids market in Belmont on Sunday, so you are welcome to pop over and see the nappy in person.

Glad to see you enjoying ‘your’ cloth nappies Lisa, stunning little models you have too!

  • Jo G said:
